Diamond Jubilee – A Celebration of Britain
At the moment, everyone in Britain is rightfully feeling proud to be British with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations this weekend. If you are from abroad and are in Britain for this for this long weekend, you are about to indulge in the Best of British! Following on from our British Luxury blog post, this piece is dedicated to a few of the things that are celebrated as making Britain ‘Great’ together with providing some visual inspiration for good measure!

Britain has some of the best performance venues you will find anywhere. From the spectacular, to the grand and opulent. Not many countries have a venue like the Royal Albert Hall. To quote a world-class performer like Alicia Keys, when she performed at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011 “When I walked in here today, my heart stopped for a second, it is so incredible and so beautiful.”

Part of the reason why we have these venues is because the history of music in Britain is so rich and highly influential. Summed up by the Beetles and followed by countless other exceptional bands right up to now. Bands and artists worldwide use British music as a reference point for their music

We don’t seem to get a sustained hot season but on the rarity of a warm summers day, is there anything like a refreshing glass of Pimms finishing up with the heavily Pimms flavored fruit?

Your glass of Pimms will usually compliment the watching of a sporting event. We may not always be the best, but we are certainly the most passionate. We’ll never stop enjoying our sport from the grass roots to the highest level.

Outside of the cities, British seasides are famous for their piers, their amusement parks/rides and their less than sandy beaches! They are simply not comparable to beaches anywhere else in the world for the sense of tradition they inspire.

In a lot of countries, the affluent live in the cities, the higher classes play around in urban destinations. The less well off are forced to live in rural areas. This is so definitely not the case in the picturesque British countryside!

Outside of the big cities, the ‘Made In Britain’ tag is still a label that means a lot. It is a very significant stamp of quality. British industry is well known for its craft and workmanship and although there are a lot fewer products made in Britain these days, those that are often represent real quality.

London contains one of the most famous rivers running through a major city, anywhere in the world. London hasn’t been built around the river, the river is an integral part of the cities architecture.

And of course there is the whole reason for this post to celebrate the royal family and Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, which marks 60 years of her reign. Along with Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge’s marriage last year, the British royal family remains the most celebrated royal family in the world.
There are many things that make Britain great and we have only just touched on a few of them. Are there others that you would like to add to the list?
