From the East End of London to the World: David Beckham

4th May, 2012

David Beckham is a man who needs no introductions but once his football career is over in the next few years, what will he be most known for? Despite the critics, Beckham has the accolades to prove that he has been one of the world’s best footballers and he is now equally recognised as one of the world’s most stylish men. The transition from football star to magazine covers has been seamless.

Much of why we like Beckham is for his ability to evolve and develop his look in public. He has done what anyone shouldn’t be afraid to do and has developed his style, definitely made plenty of mistakes and has remained versatile in his approach to clothing. He is a genuine trend setter.

When we think of what Keep Fronting clothes could and should be, David Beckham does a good job of summing that up – although we have hardly stretched ourselves picking him as a ‘muse’. He is equally comfortable in suits and casual attire and will wear both to events he feels comfortable. In that sense, when he does dress up, he does so out of a choice of style rather than a sense of formality.
Part of his style no matter what the season is to utilise layers and he loves a good hat and scarf combination! Another part of his look is to incorporate his ever changing hair styles and his ever growing collection of tattoos into any look he attempts. Keep Fronting will be looking further at the cross over between body art, personal grooming and fashion in the near future.

As our first style profile, choosing Beckham was keeping it simple. To get into the mindset of dressing like Beckham, you need to know that you look good! It just helps that Beckham’s likely army of stylists can help him stay ahead of the fashion curve and can minimize any future mistakes – which we don’t dwell on….but a good one was the matching motorcycle leather jackets with Victoria Beckham! But the below outfit to the recent launch of his H&M range shows that he can throw together a relatively simple outfit and make it work.

To end on a positive note, Keep Fronting are always going to support fellow proud Londoners and whether you have any affinity with the city or not, if you have any interest in men’s fashion, you’ll certainly have some interest in David Beckham. What do you think his biggest style successes have been?
