What Gives Thierry Henry his Va Va Voom?
Thierry Henry is an adopted Londoner after eight years with Arsenal football club. As a native Parisian, he started his football career at AC Monaco. So straight away, he has been at three very fashion conscious places in Europe. Add to that spells in Italy, Spain and New York, he has every reason to have moulded himself into a stylish individual. And he is also responsible (via marketing folk) for the catchphrase ‘va va voom’! He is the third footballer we have written a style profile on after Mario Balotelli and David Beckham. At Keep Fronting, we are big fans of Thierry Henry so it was only natural that we would write a feature on him.

Speaking of David Beckham, there have been a number of comparisons with David him over the years and indeed, their careers have a degree of symmetry; particularly the countries they have played football in. For Beckham having played at AC Milan, for Henry, read Juventus. Like wise, Beckham played at Real Madrid where as Henry played at Barcelona. When they played in England, they played for Manchester United and Arsenal respectively. Now in the US, David Beckham currently plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy whilst Thierry Henry competes for the New York Red Bulls. Off the pitch Henry does bring an element of stardust with him although there are very few players who can match Beckham for that. And of course there is a lot less that Frenchman can do with his hair!

In the vein of keeping to being the other side of the spectrum from Beckham, Thierry Henry will often take a more simple approach to the way he dresses. He doesn’t go for fussy or intricate. He would rather be crisp, stylish and clean cut. A t-shirt teamed with shorts or jeans and a pair of trainers will work for him. And a pair of sunglasses will finish off any Thierry Henry smart casual look!

He is quite happy to take a his simple frame work for his fashion and be playful with it. He isn’t afraid to allow his clothes to scream every so often and remains youthful with his selection choices.

Since his move to New York, Thierry Henry has definitely embraced the American way of life and American fashion. It’s very uncomplicated but it’s also comfortable, stylish and quite eye catching.

When it comes to fashion, Thierry Henry isn’t trying to reinvent anything. He won’t shock you or begin a trend but he will build on his good genetics with well fitting, well constructed clothes. What we haven’t shown in this profile his just how well he wears a suit (which he does very well) but he is the standard bearer for showing that fashionable people aren’t necessarily the ones who stand out the most. It’s the ones who stand by themselves the best. Are there any other footballers or sports men in general that you would like Keep Fronting to do a style profile on?
